Scarborough Fair

This CD is a fusion of both original material and some of my favorite traditional songs. Included is one of the most popular traditional English folk songs called Scarborough Fair. It dates back to late medieval times and has many versions. My arrangement is influenced from Martin Carthy's version and the Simon and Garfunkel version which popularized the song in 1966. Another included song also believed to date back to medieval times is the traditional Irish folk song called She Moved through the Fair. It also has many versions and has been performed by many artists including Fairport Convention in 1968. My influence to do this song came from the recording by Alan Stivell in 1973. Another chosen favorite is an arrangement called Song of Brigit. This is my original adaptation of a traditional melody from a song called The Shores of La Bran, to a poem called Celtic Wonder Tales re-told by Ella Young. The marriage works very well! There are five more original songs included, they are: The Day and May Song from a seasonal song collection I have been working on over the years. Song of the Everywhere Spirit is a new arrangement of an older song I wrote back in 1972. The inspiring words are from an anonymous source. Forest of Trees was inspired by a dream and became one of the inspirational tunes for the CD and the cover graphics. Gemini is a song about the astrological sign of Gemini. I sort of wrote this about myself and all Geminis.

This project has been a labor of love and a real inspiration for me. I hope everyone who listens to this music enjoys it as much as I do.
