As a recording artist, radio disc jockey, and live
performer, Marty Dread draws inspiration from his
tropical home on the Hawaiian island of Maui and
spreads it around the world.
Marty Dread has released 12 of his own recordings,
including three that have been nominated for
“Best Reggae Album of the Year”. With the
release of " Next Level," Marty teams up with DJ
Shakin Melodiz and takes his music to "the next
level." Shakin Melodiz' DJ influence is evident as
soon as you put the cd on with "No Mo' Slippah pt.
2," .The song
"Can't Let Go" is a perfect blend of Marty's reggae
rap against a smooth R&B groove. "You are the
Church" has a more traditional reggae feel, and
should be a favorite of reggae fans.
Marty Dread has been performing on stage for
more than a decade. His energetic, crowd pleasing
show has opened for many reggae greats, including
Ziggy Marley, Steel Pulse, Jimmy Cliff, Black Uhuru,
Inner Circle, Aswad, Third World, Maxi Priest,
Shaggy, the Wailers, Yellowman, Pato Banton, Don
Carlos, Eek a Mouse, Chaka Demus and Pliers,
the Congos, and more. Marty Dread has also performed
a number of times with Willie Nelson.
