WHEN THE SEA REMEMBERS CD-THE INSPIRATION FOR EACH TRACK
1. When The Sea Remembers
We always go to the Sea for our most important life moments: when we are in love, when we celebrate, when we feel sad, when we want to relax, when we want to think clearly and take important decisions...sometimes alone and sometimes with our lover, our family, our best friends. It is amazing that the Sea can give us so much power and play such an important role in our lives. We go to her and we transmit our thoughts while looking at her: this is why the Sea remembers everything.
2. Full Moon Reflections
That wonderful sight of the full moon reflections on the sea...always takes our breath away every summer. This indescribable poetic, peaceful and majestic image that is one of nature's most wonderful creations. The touch of God in front of our eyes.
3. Sifnos
One of the most beautiful Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. This piece was composed during the great days I spent there in the summer of 1997 with my friend Miltos.
4. Olympic Glory
Olympic Glory is dedicated to Niki Bakogianni who inspired me to compose this piece a few minutes after watching her winning the silver medal in the High Jump of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
5. Wounded Feelings
When you open your heart to live life and love with all your strength you risk to get your feelings wounded. Sometimes, this is exactly what happens. However, without this risk you will never be able to experience real love or to enjoy your life to the fullest
6. Wonderful Moments
This piece is a joyous waltz celebrating all the wonderful moments of our life: the moments that make us realize that life is really beautiful, even though difficulties and bad luck always comes our way.
7. Shooting Stars
Back when I was between the ages of 10 and 15 my father would take me every August for long walks in the village of Skalohori (the birthplace of my grandmother) at the appropriate nights when there were a lot of shooting stars. Even though he was a Chemistry professor he had self-studied Astronomy and was subscribed to the American magazines National Geographic and Sky & Telescope. That's why he was able to explain the phenomenon to me and help me enjoy it by pointing me to the right directions in order to not miss the shooting stars. And every summer night we went for a walk he would show me the stars in the night sky and tell me their names and everything he knew about them. He wanted me to know about all the great physical phenomenons from an early age and understand what they are about.
But I am also strongly connected to the other meaning of the shooting stars, the emotional one: two lovers sitting on the beach and watching the shooting stars, or people looking to them and making a wish. In my heart, it is impossible not to remember all these things when I watch the shooting stars each summer in my summer home.
8. On The Beach
The summer evenings spent on the beach...what a joy! Without a care in the world, the endless sea in front of you and the clear skies above, with people around you happy and relaxed. One of the distinct privileges of the Greek summer!
9. Blue Symphony
The endless blue of the sea, the one we quietly stare when we also feel blue...
10. A World Made of Paper
The melody of Full Moon Reflections in a totally different arrangement: an up tempo Dixieland groove that wants to make fun of the bad face of the world around us.
11. Loss
Life is full of meetings and partings. The feeling of loss is something we all hope to avoid, but we can't because this is part of our life. It is not just the loss of beloved persons: during our life beautiful things end and never happen again.
12. The Moment of Victory
The Moment of Victory is dedicated to all the Greek athletes who have won medals in the Olympic Games of Barcelona (1992), Atlanta (1996), Sidney (2000) and Athens (2004), and especially to Voula Patoudlidou who won the gold medal in the 110m Hurdles of the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.
Since 1980 I am an enthusiastic fan of the Olympic Games and as you can see in the photos of this website, I experienced the Athens 2004 Games up, close and personal.
13. The Final Farewell
I dedicate The Final Farewell to my beloved grandmother Eleftheria. I composed it especially for her just one day after her death. May her memory live through this piece. After all, the people you love live as long as you remember them.
14. Heart Full of Love
If your heart is not full of love, then you can never be really happy and you can not enjoy anything. It is also difficult to receive love because you have to give love first. Lots of it and without holding back because you receive as much as you give.
