Kent's Lament One

Dreamy and floating with mysterious tension, the music of Brian Citro and Charles Gorczynski is both transcendental and urban. Using acoustic (guitar and saxophone) and electronic instruments, their compositions are intriguing song formats focused in a range between abstract sound textures and accessible melodies.

Recorded and mixed by Tim Iseler at Chicago's renowned Soma Studios, The Door is the debut release of Chicago's emerging Jazz duo Brian Citro and Charles Gorczynski.

All of the compositions on this CD were created as a soundtrack for Bruce Wood's psychological drama The Door.
While the music is typical of Citro & Gorczynski's style, each track was created to illustrate a theme or scene in the movie. Rather than synchronize their compositions to the finished film, the composers worked from the written script. Wood asked them to "make a CD, and collage the music to the images later."

An indie-film about the misadventures of three lucid dreamers, The Door has scenes of love, suspense, and mistaken identities. A clip from The Door can be seen on the film's web site, www.thedoormovie.com.

Both Citro and Gorczynski are active members of the Chicago music scene. Aside from their own performances, they have composed music for the Experimental Theatre Chicago's "ETC." performance festival, and have worked with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Hydro, (an Afro-Reggae group), Tchaka,(a Haitian roots music and Carribean Jazz group), Umphrey's Mcgee, and many others.

Citro and Gorczynski also co-lead the experimental music quintet Video Gum Culture, which is scheduled to release their debut album in early 2006.
